Drag Queen Bingo

I am fortunate to live in a town that not only has the usual things to offer like opera, music, dance, galleries etc., but this unique town of Asheville  offers some things that are a little bit out of the ordinary.

The other night I happened to come across an ad for Drag Queen Bingo. I knew immediately that this was something I wanted to go to. The event was a fundraiser for Brother Wolfe Animal Rescue which is a favorite of mine.

Luckily, my girlfriend was available and ready to join me for a wild and crazy evening. Off we went to the Renaissance Hotel.  We were shocked to see so many people attending this wild event. The ballroom was filled to capacity. There were men, women, gays, lesbians, old, young and everything in between.

We sat down at a long table with our stack of bingo cards and daubers and out came the master of ceremonies. This big boobed, long lashed, bouffant haired, somewhat glamorous large transsexual came out in a flamboyant  outfit to welcome the audience. He was a great host. He was entertaining, a little off color and funny.

Between our bingo games, each queen came onto the stage in their sexy ensemble and grooved to loud dance tunes of the day. They proceeded to lip synch each song and gyrate down the isles strutting their stuff for all to see.

The ladies breasts were stuffed into their bustiers and spilling over. What a site! The audience hooted and howled, and crammed dollar bills in the performers cleavage while bumping and grinding against their bodies. I was amazed at the amount of cash these she-males came away with. Mounds of dollar bills! If you could see the high heels these guys had on you’d give them a dollar bill or two too.

Of course my friend and I  stuffed money down one of the ladies tops. If you’re going to go to one of these things you may as well join in right?

It was quite the evening. I told my friend “This is good for my soul.” I don’t know why I am such a character but I just am. I am a big believer in fun!

I didn’t win any bingo games and I didn’t win any of the door prizes. I didn’t win any of the live auction items or any of the silent auction items either but…….I laughed and smiled from ear to ear for four hours. I along with about six hundred other crazy people donated money to the animal rescue, supported some creative transsexuals doing their thing and came away uplifted, expanded, shocked, entertained, exuberant and glad to be in a town that is so liberal and open to support a crazy thing like Drag Queen Bingo!

In my opinion, being open minded and non judgmental only makes room for new experiences, and that’s what keeps life interesting.
