Five Ways To Add Joy To Your Life

Happy New Year!

Now is the time when we reflect on the past and think about our future.

Ken and I always take the time to sit down and write out some goals for ourselves and for the two of us as a couple moving forward. One of mine is to get on a schedule, not a tight schedule but have my day a little more structured so that I can see my accomplishments. Those of us that are like bumble bees flitting from one thing to another need a little structure.

One of my commitments this year is to get up early and write a daily joy log every day. I started out doing that when I started this blog but somehow it became a Monthly Joy Log.

My intention is  to write every day and keep myself and hopefully others on a joyous path.

Here are five easy ways to add more joy to your life.

1. Start the day out smiling. When you are lying  in bed, just before you get up, take time to think of five things that you are grateful for and put a big smile on your face. Do this every day.

2. Write positive affirmations on pieces of paper and stick them on the mirror, on the refrigerator, on your dashboard and other places where you are sure to see them. Say them out loud with conviction. I am lovable. I am confident and courageous. My life is fabulous. I am full of joy today.

3. When you are feeling down, pull out your favorite music, play it loudly and dance. This will definitely change your state.

4. Find something to laugh about every day. Watch a silly TV show, a funny video clip, read a funny story, or do something silly. We all know that laughter is the best medicine.

5. An act of kindness toward someone else works every time. Bake something for your elderly neighbor, shovel the neighbors walk, buy a little gift for a friend or mate for no reason,  call an old friend that you haven’t talked to in years, send someone you care about a card and tell them how much they mean to you.

I don’t think most people were born angry and bitter, they became that  way with practice. Start the year off right and choose to be more joyful by practicing.

My affirmation for today is: I am  confident in myself and my abilities.
