How Serendipitous!

I haven’t written a blog in a few weeks.  Shame on me.  I think what happened was I took time out to In-Joy.  Not that writing this blog isn’t joyous, but sometimes you have to rest and change things up in order to keep those ideas coming.

A friend of mine who has a place at the beach called me at the last minute.  She wanted to know if I could get away and  head to Pawleys Island with her for a few days. It didn’t take me long to say yes to that one.  I was able to do it so why shouldn’t I go?  My mind almost got in the way with all of the reasons why I shouldn’t go.  I really should be working,  I shouldn’t spend the money,  I have to get the house in the MLS and other crappola like that.

If today were my last day on earth, would I be happy that I said yes?  You betcha babe! Luckily, I have a very supportive husband who knows that fun is one of my priorities in life. He told me that  I should go. Ok then, I will. He was probably happy to get rid of me for a few days anyway.

I was starting to panic while packing because my very favorite  pair of shorts  were still missing.  I wrote about them in my last blog. The shorts that just disappeared and I tore the house apart looking for them. For some strange reason I got this weird feeling that I should look in the linen closet again.  There between a set of sheets was a little corner of dark blue sticking out. Could this be?  Yes, there they were, my shorts that had been missing for months.  I couldn’t believe it.  The beach God’s were with me!  Thank you, thank you.

I drove to Columbia and met my friend who was  driving in from another city. I hopped in her car and off we went.

The funny thing about this trip was, there were a group of twelve of my friends already at Pawleys renting a house and another friend of mine was there on a girls getaway also staying at Pawleys. Wild isn’t it? We were all down there the same week.

We pulled into Georgetown for lunch and I said to my friend, “I bet we’ll end up seeing someone we know here.” She immediately said softly, “Yeah-Leigh”  With that, I looked out the window and  there was Leigh and her entourage.  I yelled, “There she is!” We just couldn’t believe it. We screamed, hooted and hollered at the gang of girls right outside of my window. They were totally flabbergasted to see  it was us. They didn’t even know that we were coming to the beach.  It was one of those very cool, serendipitous moments.  We saw them not ten seconds after saying we’d see them and we couldn’t have timed it better if we had planned it.

We parked the car and we all went to lunch at a cute place over looking the water. What a great way to start things out. We sat in the beautiful sunshine and cackled, reliving the story of running into each other over and over. Crazy girls. What a joyous day it was!
