Just Married Prank

I’ve always tried to find ways to bring joy to my family elders.

They’re a great group of people. When we would get together there was trouble. Of course I was the instigator.

My family is small and spread out from NY to Fla. so we would meet now and then for long weekends. This particular time everyone was staying at a hotel.

My aunt and uncle who were in their 70’s at the time and had been married for probably 46 years, had driven down from NY.When it was time for them to drive back to NY I got this great idea!

Why don’t we decorate their car with “Just Married” paraphernalia?

We had to get up really early to do this because they were planning on leaving early. There we were, a bunch of us in our pj’s at 5am decorating this car. It was a scream! We used shaving cream to write messages of Love, we tied tin cans on the back to drag on the ground as they drove away, and we had the best time making a mess of their car.

We hid in the bushes as they rolled their suitcases out to the parking lot.  For the first 10 minutes they couldn’t figure out where their car was . Once they found it, they were hysterical. My aunt is no longer with us but I have a great photo of the two of them standing in front of their car that says “Just Married”.

We stood and waved goodbye to them as the cans clanked along the pavement.

To me, there’s nothing better than bringing people together to experience some silly joy!

Unfortunately some of those wonderful people are gone now and others are too old to travel so I am grateful for those crazy times we shared.

Do you have any relatives coming to visit? You might want try this for fun! Let me know how it goes!

Cool idea! Wondering why we just do that tradition on “the day” of getting married?

I think anyone that makes it past 10 years of marriage deserves a decorated car!
