Laughter Is The Outward Expression Of Joy

My husband and I just came back from NY where we celebrated my uncles 90th birthday. What a hoot and a half we had. To me, laughter is the outward expression of joy. I’ve always felt that making people laugh is part of my job description in life.  I somehow have a knack for it. I never considered myself to be a comedian by any means but there’s definitely  some part of my quirky personality that is funny and makes people laugh.

There we were in my uncles kitchen. My mother, uncle, cousins and nephews. Ken and I started to sing a little Irish ditty that someone had taught us years ago and off to the races we went with hysteria.  We laughed and laughed.

You know how it is when you laugh so hard that no sound comes out of your mouth, and you can’t breathe?  You start to scream to get your breath and your face hurts from smiling. Isn’t it the best feeling in the world? It’s like the feeling you get after a workout at the gym or a great game of tennis.

We were visiting for five days and we had a dose of heavy laughter every day.

I’m home now and often miss those bouts of laughter. Just like anything else in life, you have to work at it. It doesn’t just land in your lap. You must get together with fun people that you have chemistry with.  Open yourself up to nonsense and joy and the laughter will magically appear.

Luckily, I have people in my life that get it. This past weekend my husband and I went hiking with friends.  We carried on like crazy people and laughed. What a blessing that is! I guarantee that if you bring laughter into your life you will be a happier person.

Experience Joy And Pass It On!
