Stupid Glue Gun!

In one of my previous posts I talked about a glue gun and how I’ve wanted one for years. I didn’t have a project in mind but I still wanted one to lay in the basement in its package just in case I thought of a reason to use it.

Well, I am happy to say that I was able to use my new glue gun last week. I was so excited! I felt like a real hobbyist!

A surprise party was given for a friend of ours.  He is a lover of hats, so to make the event more fun we all came adorned with interesting things on our heads.

I decided to make an extra special hat for him.

I went to the Goodwill store and bought a big straw hat.

I gently took my new handy dandy glue gun out its package and plugged it in. I stuffed the little glue stick in the dispenser and waited for it to heat up. Well, where’s the glue?  How hard could it be to cram a glue stick in a chamber and squeeze the trigger for the goo to come out?

Apparently I was doing something wrong. All of my excitement was turning to disappointment. The stupid thing doesn’t work. I got a faulty glue gun! I have 15 minutes to get this hat finished before departure time and the glue won’t come out. I thought this was going to be an easy procedure! Do I dare ask my husband for help?

Maybe I’ll look at the directions, even though I know what I’m doing.  Sure enough it says, the first time using your glue gun you will  need to put two glue sticks in the chamber for the glue to come out.

With that, I stuck another glue stick in and the miracle glue started to ooze its way out! Hooray! Oh Joy!

My hat consisted of ribbons for joy, an ice cream cone because who doesn’t love ice cream, a teddy bear for the cute cuddly bear that he is, a bunch of pens because he collects them, little horns because he is loud and blows his horn regularly, and a card wishing him a happy birthday.

I can’t wait for another reason to use my glue gun now that I am an expert!

Experience the joy and pass it on!
